Japan Map Quiz Courses

The Japan Map Prefecture Quiz offers four different courses.

- Beginner Course

In the beginner course, 10 prefectures are selected from the Japan map. This course is designed for beginners, such as elementary school students, and is easy to answer. We recommend starting with this course to get used to the quiz.

- Intermediate Course

In the intermediate course, 20 prefectures are selected from the Japan map. Try answering all 20 questions, which is twice as many as the beginner course.

- Advanced Course

The advanced course increases the difficulty with 30 prefectures. Challenge yourself to answer all 30 questions correctly!

- Japan Map Master Course

This is the master course, where all the prefectures shown on the Japan map are included. Answering all 47 prefectures is very challenging, but if you get every question right, you can truly call yourself a Japan Map Master!

Japan Map Rankings with Time Attack

The Japan Map Prefecture Quiz app features a time attack mode.

Rankings are separate for the beginner, intermediate, advanced, and master courses, so you can compete for the top spot in each course.

Additionally, since this ranking is shared with the English version, it essentially serves as a global ranking.

Try to become number one in the rankings and aim to be a Japan Map Master!

Hints for the Japan Map Quiz

If you don't know the name of the prefecture on the Japan map, you can use the following hints to help you guess the answer.

- Hint 1: Population of the Prefecture

The population of the prefecture in question will be shown as a national ranking, displaying the population and its rank. Five prefectures (including those before and after in the ranking) are displayed, making this a helpful hint for both the quiz and learning about Japan's population.

- Hint 2: Prefectural Flag (Emblem)

The prefectural emblem will be displayed as a hint in the quiz.

- Hint 3: First Letter (English)

The first letter (in English) of the prefecture name will be shown. The letter will gradually appear over time, so while this may be a disadvantage in time attack mode, it serves as a major hint in the quiz.

- Hint 4: First Letter (Hiragana)

While the previous hint was in English, this time the first letter will be shown in hiragana. For young children or those who do not yet know English letters, this hint may help lead them to the answer.

Supports Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, and English (Alphabet)

The quiz questions in the Japan Map Quiz can be displayed in any of the following four scripts:

- Kanji

- Hiragana

- Katakana

- English (Alphabet)

This allows not only for learning geography and topography, but also for learning the spelling of prefecture names in English, or for young children to practice reading hiragana and katakana.

Review Feature

If you encounter a question you couldn't answer in the Japan Map Quiz, you can review it later. This feature is useful for revisiting questions you found difficult or for reviewing geography.

About the Displayed Locations of Prefectures on the Japan Map

In this quiz, questions are asked about all 47 prefectures of Japan, displayed on the map. The location shown is zoomed in on the prefectural capital.*Currently, a wider area can be viewed.

Also, since the initial display shows the prefecture in question in a view of the whole country, smaller prefectures may appear small on the map.

In such cases, you can zoom in (pinch out) on the Japan map to see it more clearly.

Furthermore, you can move the map to see neighboring prefectures, which can serve as hints for the quiz. If you tap a prefecture that is not the answer, its name will also be displayed, helping you naturally learn the locations, places, and geography of each prefecture as you think about the answers.

We hope you enjoy the Japan Map Quiz as a fun game and that it helps you with your studies and knowledge improvement at school.
